We all agree there is no better fun than supply ourselves with a great stash of popcorn, ice cream, Chinese food, and to sit down and watch the new series or rewatch some old episodes. The fact is that our generation has experienced the serious television spin, where in the last decade, TV offer has completely changed. So, comparing to previous sitcoms or soap operas, now we have seriously great and fun programme.
However, it is not just for a serious casting, their talent, or script the thing that attracts us and make us glued to the screen for hours. More often it is the connection to actors that make us feel connected to characters, recognizing ourselves in their reactions and actions, falling in love with their outfits, and lifestyle they lead and of course for filming locations.
The most important is that those locations help us put those fiction characters into a real dimension and see them differently. Some places scare us, some overwhelm us, for some we immediately wish to pack our bags and leave there because that kind of heaven must be seen immediately.
So, there are some suggestions:
1. Game of Thrones
Dubrovnik has been overwhelmed with GoT tourists for quite some years and they remind themselves of everything that happened between those walls in previous 7 seasons. However, it is less known that stunning gardens of family Tireli, famous High Garden are located just 20km outside of Dubrovnik and that are called in real life Trsteno Arboretum. Besides, Arboretum is a real treasure that is worth of visiting.
2. True Blood
Just like the main character in series, Bill Compton and Roseneath estate itself-that has been used for shooting exterior scenes of vampire’s house is also 150 years old. In the show, Bill was a soldier in a Civil war, and history shows that this plantation was connected to the same war, because at the time it was the hospital for injured soldiers. It is seated in Louisiana, and it served for shooting for a few seasons, but owners rebelled against controversial plot of series, so the producers had to build a replica in Santa Monica and to continue shooting there.
3. The Sopranos
Every real Soprano fan will recognize this diner from the picture and attach to it various memories from the series, especially the very end. Holsten’s is a real diner and it is seated in Bloomfield, New Jersey. After James Gandolfini, who played the leading role of Tony Soprano, died in 2013, this restaurant kept the table where famous TV family always sit as the sign of respect for late James. If you sometimes go there, don’t miss their famous ice cream.
Do you remember when at the beginning of the show, Hannah (Lena Dunham) finds a job as a barista in a café Grumpy? So it may be interesting to you that it is the real café, that exists on many locations in New York, with the first one in Brooklyn, where Hannah lives. Real baristas from this coffee shop, for some reason, expressed their negative emotion towards the show’s characters, but that doesn’t keep them of serving delicious pastry and great coffee.
